Bring plenty of drinking water, two towels, one to sit on and one to dry yourself with. Wear swimwear with no metal fasteners and bring footwear that you can easily slip into for heading outside to cool down, footwear that covers your feet, if you plan on taking a cold water dip in a natural body of water. A small snack for after your session.
YES children 6 years of age and over can use the Sauna. NB/ they will need to be supervised at all times in the sauna and cold water cool down by an appropriate adult, and this person will need to sign on the day to state their relationship to the child and agreement to supervise. NB/ those under 16 are not allowed to use the cold water tub.
We try to maintain the temperature In the sauna at around 80 degrees celsius, but it can range between 65 to 95 depending on how often users are in and out of 5be sauna (this lowers the temperature), how much steam users are creating by adding water to the rocks (as this also lowers the temperature gradually) and a few other variables. Remember that as heat rises, you can choose to sit higher or lower and find the temperature that suits you. If you feel too hot move to a cooler bench or take a break from the sauna and cool down. Remember to regularly hydrate with water.
We recommend enjoying the heat of the sauna for between 10 to 15 minutes, If you feel dizzy or unwell in the sauna, take a break. Following the hot we recommend you take time to enjoy the cold (sit out side to cool off; pour a bucket of water over your head; climb into our cold water tub or try a dip in a natural body of water - site dependant) and then take a moment to rest.
The cold. This is a personal choice, have a go and find how you enjoy cooling down. Some are comfortable to just sit in the changing room or take sometime relaxing on the bench outside. Others prefer to pour a bucket of cold water over their heads, or take jug of water and do it gradually, whilst others may wish to climb slowly into our cold water tub. If our venue allows and the conditions are appropriate others will take the opportunity for a cold water dip in a natural body of water (Always were appropriate footwear and ensure that you are confident that it is safe to do so, please read Sauna Hut guidance and terms below).
